Sample Case Studies:

Stock Manipulation via Internet Message Boards
A person used an anonymous Internet alias to post multiple false allegations about a public company's performance. During the course of its investigation, ICG uncovered additional aliases being used by the same person to manipulate the public's perception of the company and its officers. ICG determined that an NASD licensed broker was conducting these illegal activities. At the client's request, ICG referred the matter to the SEC's Internet Enforcement Division.

Hostile Website (URL) Ownership Analysis
A global consumer products firm suspected that an aggressive competitor was responsible for a website highly critical of one of the company's core products. ICG determined that the website was being heavily promoted on numerous product-related discussion forums by a series of somewhat similar aliases. ICG determined the identity of the individual behind the website and its promotions. Armed with the knowledge that the site's creator was actually a dissatisfied customer, the company was able to resolve the customer's concerns while avoiding unnecessary and costly litigation with its competitor.

Emerging Counterfeit Internet Retail Market
A Fortune 1000 company sought to understand the emerging counterfeit Internet retail market of their wellknown brand. ICG delivered a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the existing counterfeit eCommerce environment. ICG provided the client with intelligence that could be analyzed to identify specific threat entities operating Internet retail sites offering the counterfeit product. Based on the current and emerging threats the company faced, ICG designed an efficient and effective methodology for a long term monitoring, target prioritization, and action strategy.
